Overview

Concrete Commitments are specialized agreements for managing concrete pours on construction projects. Unlike standard material commitments, concrete commitments include:
  • Mix design specifications
  • Pour scheduling and coordination
  • Delivery location management
  • Vendor communication for just-in-time delivery

Key Concepts

Pour

A Pour is a scheduled concrete placement event. Each pour specifies:
  • Location – Where on the job site
  • Mix Design – The concrete specification
  • Volume – Cubic yards required
  • Date/Time – When the pour is scheduled

Mix Design

The specification for the concrete, including:
  • Strength (PSI)
  • Slump
  • Aggregate size
  • Admixtures
  • Special requirements (fiber, color, etc.)

Creating a Concrete Commitment

Navigate to Commitments

Go to Commitments from the main navigation.

Create New Commitment

Click + New Commitment and select Concrete Commitment.

Select Project

Choose the project for this commitment.

Select Vendor

Choose your concrete supplier.

Enter Agreement Details

Add reference information and terms.

Adding Mix Designs

Define the mix designs available under this commitment:

Click Add Mix

Click Add Mix Design to create a new specification.

Enter Mix Details

  • Name – Descriptive name (e.g., “4000 PSI Slab Mix”)
  • Strength – PSI rating
  • Slump – Consistency specification
  • Price per CY – Committed price per cubic yard

Add Specifications

Include any special requirements or admixtures.

Save

The mix is added to your commitment.
Repeat for all mix designs in the agreement.

Scheduling Pours

Creating a Pour

Go to Pour Schedule

Navigate to the Pours or Pour Schedule section.

Click New Pour

Click + Schedule Pour to create a new pour.

Select Commitment

Choose the concrete commitment to use.

Select Mix Design

Choose the appropriate mix for this pour.

Enter Pour Details

  • Location – Where on site (e.g., “Building A, Level 2 Slab”)
  • Volume – Estimated cubic yards
  • Date – Scheduled pour date
  • Start Time – When trucks should arrive

Save

The pour is added to the schedule.

Pour Calendar

View all scheduled pours in calendar format:
  • Daily View – See all pours for a specific day
  • Weekly View – Plan the week’s concrete work
  • Monthly View – Long-term pour planning

Coordinating with Vendors

Sending Pour Requests

Select Pour

Open the scheduled pour.

Click Request Confirmation

Send a request to the vendor to confirm the pour.

Include Details

Add any special instructions or requirements.

Send

The vendor receives notification of the scheduled pour.

Vendor Confirmation

When the vendor confirms:
  1. Pour status updates to Confirmed
  2. You receive notification of confirmation
  3. Any changes from vendor are noted

Day-of-Pour Management

Pre-Pour Checklist

Before the pour begins:
Confirm vendor has the pour on schedule
Verify mix design is correct
Ensure site is ready to receive concrete
Confirm equipment and crew are in place

During the Pour

Track actual delivery:
  1. Record truck arrivals and ticket numbers
  2. Note actual volumes delivered
  3. Track any issues or delays
  4. Capture delivery ticket photos

Completing the Pour

After the pour:

Enter Actual Volume

Record the total cubic yards actually placed.

Upload Tickets

Attach all delivery tickets from the vendor.

Note Any Issues

Document any problems (delays, quality issues, etc.).

Mark Complete

Set the pour status to Completed.

Tracking Commitment Usage

Commitment Progress

Monitor how much of your commitment has been used:
  • Total Committed CY – Cubic yards in the agreement
  • Poured CY – What’s been placed
  • Scheduled CY – Upcoming pours
  • Remaining CY – Available for future pours

Cost Tracking

Track spend against commitment:
  • Actual costs per pour
  • Comparison to committed pricing
  • Any additional charges (pumping, overtime, etc.)

Handling Changes

Rescheduling Pours

To move a pour to a different date:
  1. Open the pour
  2. Click Reschedule
  3. Select new date and time
  4. Notify vendor of change

Adjusting Volumes

If pour requirements change:
  1. Open the pour
  2. Update the estimated volume
  3. Notify vendor if significant change
  4. Track actual vs. estimated after pour

Weather Delays

For weather-related issues:
  1. Monitor weather forecasts
  2. Communicate early with vendor
  3. Reschedule proactively
  4. Document weather-related changes

Reports

Pour History

View all pours for a project:
  • Dates and locations
  • Volumes placed
  • Mix designs used
  • Cost summaries

Commitment Utilization

Track commitment usage:
  • Percentage of commitment used
  • Remaining capacity
  • Cost comparison

Best Practices

Confirm Early

Get vendor confirmation at least 48 hours before pour.

Track Weather

Monitor forecasts and have backup plans.

Capture Tickets

Photograph delivery tickets immediately.

Communicate Changes

Notify vendors promptly of any schedule changes.
